Project Diaries: Burleigh Heads. Pt 2

✅ Floor Prep & Tiling: We started by grinding back the existing floor to prepare for the new tiles. 600x600 matte floor tiles were then laid throughout the living area, kitchen, and bedrooms - creating a seamless, durable base for the rest of the renovation.

✅ Kitchen Cabinetry Install: The new kitchen cabinetry went in later in the week, featuring a crisp white 2-pac finish paired with a fluted oak panel on the back of the island - a warm, textural contrast that adds depth to the design.

✅ Timber Shelving & VJ Paneling: Open oak timber shelves in the kitchen added character and we continued the VJ paneling from the TV wall into the kitchen for a consistent, coastal feel. The splashback will be finished in the same stone as the benchtop, tying everything together seamlessly.

✅ Curved Details: The curve in the bulkhead now mirrors the curved cabinetry, creating a cohesive and sculptural feature that anchors the space.

Next up: benchtop install and painting as we bring this oceanfront apartment another step closer to completion.

Project Diaries: Burleigh Heads. Pt 1

We’re back at our Burleigh Heads project, this time transforming the kitchen, living area and bedrooms at an apartment where we completed two bathroom renovations last year.

This week, demolition kicked off, clearing out the old kitchen, cabinetry and walls to make way for a fresh new layout.

✅ New Hallway: A new wall was framed at the entrance, creating a defined entryway while also providing an anchor point for cabinetry to maximise storage. This change enhances flow throughout the space and helps better define the kitchen area.

✅ Bulkhead Extension: Unfortunately, the existing kitchen bulkhead could not be removed due to plumbing so we decided to extend this bulkhead to allow for a more spacious kitchen without it feeling like an afterthought. The bulkhead was finished with a curved corner detail which will be mirrored in the benchtop below.

✅ TV Feature Wall: The TV wall was framed to create a recessed cavity, allowing the TV to sit flush within the space. It was then sheeted with VJ panelling, adding a subtle feature that complements the apartments oceanfront setting.

With the groundwork done, things are already taking shape. Stay tuned for next week as we move on to flooring and cabinetry!
